I'm BACK!!! Sooooooo.... Is Adam Lyons really a GREAT PUA?
Hi Guys,
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and your families.
So glad to be back after taking a year off from writing about my adventures of becoming a Pick Up Artist (I not crazy about the term PUA... I'll have to come up with some new term soon)
Anyway
I wanted to talk a little about PICK UP ARTIST ADAM LYONS.
For those of you who do not know ADAM he is been in the PUA Community for over 6 years and is very smart guy.
So I got this product a little while ago and I am seriously impressed. Apparently, the origin of this product is that Adam wrote a manual that he hands out on every bootcamp, and decided to release it as a product with accompanying audio. Note, this is not an audio version of the book. The audio covers the same topics, but it is more of a format of textbook/lectures than a verbatim reciting of the contents of the book.
The content of the product is seriously impressive. For those who don't know, Adam has a pretty distinctive approach to pickup. He has more structure than a lot of the natural game guys out there, but does not rely on lines. Furthermore, he changes up the order of an interaction. Instead of attraction, then comfort, then seduction, his method is: comfort, then break rapport, then qualification, then physical escalation.
He uses this terminology differently than a lot of other people in the community. The initial comfort phase is not building up such a level of comfort that it can lead to a deep connection, it's just enough comfort that the woman you are talking to is willing to invest in the conversation. Once you have that, you break rapport. Breaking rapport just means doing anything to remove some of the comfort. This can be done either through showing lack of interest, teasing, going sexual, whatever. The purpose of that is to get her to invest in you, since if she is enjoying the conversation, she will try to fix the rapport break. Then you just have a normal conversation with qualification and occasional rapport breaks thrown in, until you can logistically get to a point where you can sexually escalate. The other interesting thing is that he has a more elaborate system of qualification, using qualification statements "you are friendly," closed qualification questions "are you friendly?" and open ended questions "tell me something interesting about yourself."
In addition, Adam incorporates some interesting psychological concepts. He explains how to build social proof in a venue and why social proof is important, why getting women to invest in you is the key to attraction, and how to build compliance.
The different parts of Adam's system are phrased not in terms of what you do, but what you try to accomplish. So, instead of saying "DHV" or "neg" he says "break rapport." This is nice because on the one hand, it does give you a structure to work with, but on the other, you can choose from a lot of different ways to go about doing it.
The biggest drawback with Adam's approach is that he doesn't really give you a step by step guide for how to accomplish each thing. Different types of rapport breaks are not really explained in precise detail, and it seems like he expects that you are supposed to sort out for yourself a way to do it that meshes well with your personality. I think that this can be a real issues for guys who aren't very comfortable in new social situations, and there were definitely points where I thought "how do I pull that off." The product comes with half an hour of phone coaching free (which is actual phone coaching from one of the real puatraining instructors, not a sales pitch for a bootcamp) so I was able to get a lot of that clarified, but I consider myself reasonably advanced and experienced in the field, so I think that a real beginner might not be able to get all the blanks filled in with just a half hour of phone coaching.
A major reason I wanted to post this was that Adam's method is really different and I'd love to hear from anybody who uses it.
Well that it for now
