How To Prevent Flakey Phone Numbers

Today I want to talk to you about a subject that is near and dear to my heart it called "Flakey Phone Numbers."

 This is one of the areas that seperates the guys who struggle from the guys who end up having a sex life out of letters to Penthouse.

  The Phone Flaking Phase happens as guys get better at approaching women. Soon you start to go out and get tons of phone numbers, but they don't actually turn into anything. This can be hugely frustrating and can even make you want to quit approaching altogether.

 I had the same problems when I started out.

 But I also came up with a key distinction that I think many guys don't understand and it cripples their results.

 I remember reading years ago on some messageboard that the only point in the interaction where you don't have any power whatsoever is immediately after a woman gives you her phone number. Because at that point she can decide whether or not she wants to pick up the phone, return your calls or come meet up with you.

 This is not entirely accurate, you see there is actually a bridge that exists between the pick up and phone game. It's called follow-up. 

 Follow-up exists to ease the transition from being a stranger she met in a club or on the street, to being a part of her day to day life.

 Follow up starts within 2 hours of getting the girl's number. You want to use a text message to ping the girl and see if she responds.

 I like to use this classic ping created by Debonair Dave

 Hey, do you speak text?

The idea here is that you want to establish phone contact as quickly and easily as possible. As long as she responds you can be fairly sure she'll at least pick up your calls.

 Then you want to make sure that you call within a day or two. In a cold approach situation, you need to call within the first couple of days or you risk getting forgotten or lumped in with the 17 other guys she gave her number to.

 The last issue in follow up involves dealing with voicemails. Often times you get a woman's voicemail the first time you call her, and most guys totally blow the message.

 If I had a dollar for every lame voicemail I heard on girl's phones I wouldn't be writing these newsletters

 It usually sounds something like this

" uh hey Kelly, this is Greg we met at Pascha's, I wanted to see if you wanted to grab dinner this week. Call me back my number is 917-555-8888. That's 917-555-8888. Call me."

 No good.

Instead I like to use what I call a hook message like this:

" Hey Kelly, it's Lawrence I was just walking down Hollywood and I saw this street performer who totally reminded me of you.  You'd never believe what she was doing, talk to ya later."

By leaving some ambiguity I'm almost guaranteed a callback.
