I need help with knowing what the public knows, and books
Ok basically I can ask anybody "have you heard of the pick-up artist" and they respond with a YES. I dont watch tv. I dont have a TV. Even if I got one, I still wouldent know what I need to know.
So far, What does the public know about "Pick up artist"? I am in California.
I want to color my hair and dress a certain way, but I dont know if I will get looked at as a pua. Of course I will be acting myself. The pickup artist peacocking has given me ideas. But I am dressing a certain way and dying my hair because I think it looks cool!
What is an example of someone not being their selves? Because I have heard that some people changed their styles for being a pua, and they are sometimes ridiculed or critisized for not being them selves. If they like the clothing arent they still being themselves?
What book should I pick up? Because I havent fully read a pua book yet.Or how do I get started, because I need to know the order of things and how they go: opener, comfort, then friendship?!? See I dont even know the order. I only know a few techniques (they have worked before) but I need an organized summary on paper that I can see.

I would recommend The Mystery Method, that's where it all began for me. Of course The Game is good, but it's not a how-to book, it's more about how Strauss became a PUA. Rules Of The Game is the manual. And it does not matter that people has watched the show. Just come up with your own material. Look for J-Dogs blog post about this. I think in essence, the magic from the PUA comes from the fact taht the girl doesn't know she's getting piced up until it's too late. That's the whole basis of indirect game. Believe me that it's way easier to pull this off with canned material than just going up to a girl and asking her if it hurt when she fell from heaven.

Let me update by saying I recently finished Magic Bullets and its pretty good, looking into David DeAngelo stuff because I think it would go with my personality, I like joking and being a dick. I obviously got Matchbook method and it works pretty well but its not an end all. I got tons of material I still haven´t gone thru. I will try to go thru it and if there's anything interesting I will bring it up for discussion here.
i highly recommend reading the mystery method and the game, as mentioned before. and here is why. the method is an excellent manual, pay more attention to the formulas and theories as apposed to the lines. the lines are what people know about the "pick up artist" show. i have an effing kiss tattoo on my neck (honestly got it 2 months before i knew who mystery was) and no one has ever called me out. using your own unique material is the only way. i'm trying to breakdown and master situational openers to where they can be as effective as an unknown canned line.
and the reason i recommend the game? because there is more out there than the mystery method. because of the game i got into NLP and cold reading, a few mentalist tricks, and self hypnosis for my inner game. these tools help not only with meeting women, but in everyday interaction with people. i'm even developing a way to turn pick up theory into a selling technique at my store

which is better and what did they do for you? I think a book that is $60 vs.$20 might be pretty good.

Has anyone read the routine manual that's for sale on the love systems sight? I'm thinking about buying it sometime over the summer and working on my game. I've been losing weight and I'm going to get my car fixed in May, then I'm going to rejoin martial arts... remember that a lot of this stuff is about improving your frame and becoming a more interesting person in general. I think you should focus on that stuff before working on canned material and lines. Buy yourself a gun and go jumping out of airplanes... take some martial arts classes or learn to play guitar. This is all awesomely fun stuff.
Rountines manual is worth the money - there is good stuff in it that you will not find online - fresh material, along with how to use it. I just started reading the routines manual 2, only a few pages in, so I can't tell you if it is better or worse.
For the OP, I would recommend either Magic Bullets or Revelation as a total package pickup book. TMM book is older info, so go with Revelation if you want to learn the Mystery Method.
The Game is great inspiration, and is how most guys have found the community - I would definitely read it at some point, it is just a really well written book - but it is not a 'how to' manual.
